Job summary

Jenny’s Place, in Warabrook, NSW, seeks a registered psychologist for a sector-first centre addressing domestic and family violence. You will provide assessment, formulation and intervention for women and children, in a traumainformed, multidisciplinary setting that supports complex needs.

The role is three days per week, Monday to Wednesday, with supervision and opportunities to shape a new trauma-informed care model. AHPRA registration and clearances are essential.

Qualifications

  • Full and unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in child/behavioural psychology.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the impact of domestic, family and sexual violence.
  • Ability to conduct psychological assessment, formulation and reporting.
  • Experience with Medicare/NDIS funding advantageous.
  • Working with Children Check and Police Check required.

  • Support clients using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
  • Work with children, adults and families applying behavioural psychology where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate confidential clinical records, treatment plans and reports.

  • Comply with ethical, Medicare, NDIS requirements and billing documentation.
  • Contribute to development of psychology service pathways and systems.

About the opportunity

Jenny’s Place is a leading Domestic and Family Violence organisation establishing a new specialist centre designed to provide integrated recovery support for women and children impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence. The centre will bring together psychological support with broader recovery, mental health and specialist services to help address the complex barriers that can interrupt long-term recovery.

As Psychologist, you will join Jenny’s Place at an exciting stage of development and work closely with the Lead Psychologist and a multidisciplinary team. You will provide evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention to adults and children, with experience or a strong interest in child, behavioural and trauma-informed psychology highly valued.

This is an opportunity to contribute your clinical expertise within a supportive environment while playing an active role in the development of a new model of specialist, trauma-informed care.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention to women and children with varied and complex needs.

  • Support clients using trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred approaches, with sensitivity to domestic, family and sexual violence experiences.

  • Work with children, adults and families, drawing on child and behavioural psychology principles where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records, treatment plans, correspondence and reports.

  • Participate in clinical supervision, case review, reflective practice and ongoing professional development with the Lead Psychologist.

  • Collaborate with the Lead Psychologist and the broader multidisciplinary team to coordinate integrated support and appropriate referrals.

  • Work within relevant ethical, professional, Medicare, NDIS and organisational requirements, including appropriate documentation to support billing and reporting.

  • Contribute ideas and feedback as the psychology service, clinical pathways and practice systems are established and refined.

About you

You are a thoughtful and compassionate registered psychologist who is motivated by meaningful work and interested in building specialist capability across child, behavioural and trauma-informed psychology. You communicate with warmth and professionalism, value supervision and collaboration, and are comfortable working with clients whose circumstances may be complex or sensitive.

In addition, you will bring:

  • Full and unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology.

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in child psychology and/or behavioural psychology across adults and children.

  • An understanding of trauma-informed practice and the impact of domestic, family and sexual violence; direct sector experience will be highly regarded.

  • Sound capability in psychological assessment, formulation, treatment planning and report writing appropriate to your level of experience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.

  • A high standard of clinical documentation, organisation, professional judgement and confidentiality.

  • Familiarity with Medicare, NDIS and/or Victims Services-funded psychological services will be advantageous.

  • A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check will be required for this role.
