Job summary

Jenny’s Place in Newcastle, NSW is seeking a Lead Psychologist to pioneer a sector-first initiative, building an integrated recovery support model for women and children affected by domestic, family and sexual violence.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, shape program design, supervision and governance, while balancing clinical work with strategic development, and collaborating with senior stakeholders to drive lasting impact.

Qualifications

• Full and unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Clinical Psychologist.
• Board-approved supervisor status.
• Master’s qualification in Clinical Psychology.
• Experience in leadership or supervision in clinical practice.
• Experience providing specialist support to women and children affected by domestic, family and sexual violence.
• Medicare, NDIS and Victims Services billing experience.
• Extensive experience in psychological assessment and reporting.
• Strong understanding of ethical and legislative obligations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a sector-first initiative to design a blueprint for transformational recovery support.
• Coach and mentor a multidisciplinary team including psychology, speech pathology, and OT.
• Provide program design leadership, quality assurance and oversight.
• Oversee governance and service quality across the centre.
• Balance clinical caseload with strategic capability development.
• Engage with senior stakeholders to advocate for the program.

About the Opportunity

Jenny’s Place is a leading Domestic and Family Violence organisation establishing a new specialist centre designed to provide integrated recovery support for women and children impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence. Psychology will be a key part of this new model, working alongside broader recovery, mental health and specialist supports.

As the Lead Psychologist, you will join Jenny’s Place to lead a pioneering, sector-first initiative, which will include a multidisciplinary taskforce working together to design and deliver a blueprint for transformational recovery support for some of the most vulnerable women and children in our community.

You will lead the framework design of this new program and service, centred on a blend of evidence-based methodology alongside innovation, excellence, consistency and integrity.

Leading a small, passionate team that will include child and adult psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy and specialist case work, you will provide program design leadership, professional mentoring, quality assurance and technical oversight across the complex psychological field of domestic, family and sexual violence support.

• An inspiring fully qualified registered clinical psychologist experienced in consulting and clinical practice growth, practice leadership, supervision and general practice management.

• Experienced in supporting clinical supervision, mentoring and professional development initiatives.
• Confident providing consultation on complex clinical cases and practice challenges.
• Able to contribute to clinical governance, service quality and practice development.
• Comfortable maintaining a reduced clinical caseload to support practice currency.
• Comfortable balancing operational priorities with strategic capability development.
• Motivated by meaningful work that contributes to both individual outcomes and ground-breaking service delivery.

What you need to be successful

• Full and unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Clinical Psychologist.
• Board-approved supervisor status.
• Master’s qualification in Clinical Psychology.
• Previous practice leadership or supervisory experience (highly regarded).
• Experience providing specialist support to women and children impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence.
• Medicare, NDIS and Victims Services billing experience.
• Extensive experience in psychological assessment, formulation and report writing.
• Experience providing professional guidance, quality assurance and oversight of complex assessments.
• Strong understanding of ethical, professional and legislative obligations.
