Job summary

Southern Cross Care Queensland is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our caring team in Western Downs. Based at one of our Residential Aged Care Homes, you will deliver high‑quality clinical and holistic care, supported by experienced leaders and a culture that values compassion and teamwork.

You will coordinate with medical practitioners, families and the broader care team to ensure residents live with dignity, comfort and purposeful daily activities, across all shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
• Experience in aged care and dementia care is preferred.
• Ability to work across all shifts in a compassionate, resident‑centred model.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care to residents at SCCQ aged care homes.
• Supervise and support care team members.
• Collaborate with GPs, families and multidisciplinary teams.

Southern Cross Care QLD is currently looking for you to join our SCCQ family in the role of an Aged Care Registered Nurse based at one of our Residential Aged Care Homes in the beautiful Western Downs region of Queensland. We have casual and permanent roles available.

Whether you'd like to join the team at Illoura Village in Chinchilla, our biggest Home in the area, which has recently gone through an exciting redevelopment or would enjoy the peace and tranquility of a smaller towns like Tara, Miles or Taroom we have the perfect place for you.

Chinchilla is located in the vibrant Western Downs Region of Queensland, less than 2 hours' drive west of Toowoomba or less than 4 hours from Brisbane. It provides a hub to the surrounding towns including Miles, Tara or Taroom, which are only a short drive away and may also offer opportunities for you to use and extend your nursing skills.

What is the role?

In this role you will join a team of highly skilled compassionate Nurses in providing excellence in clinical care for our residents. You will work under the leadership of experienced Clinical Leaders to deliver advanced clinical and holistic care to our residents. Providing support and supervision to your team members, you will champion a strong teamwork approach to residents' care. You will liaise with medical practitioners, family and other multi-disciplinary team members ensuring excellence in personalised care. Most importantly, compassion and empathy accompany your clinical talent, alongside building relationships with our residents based on dignity and respect.

What will you bring to the role?

• You will be an RN with a current AHPRA registration
• You will have a strong clinical focus with the ability to provide a high level of holistic support that best suits the individual
• Knowledge of chronic conditions, palliative and dementia care (desired)
• You must be available to work all shifts
• You are dedicated to caring for older people to live their best lives
• You enjoy working in a team environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and outstanding communication skills
