Job summary

Westmead Private Hospital in Sydney is seeking a Scrub Nurse to join our perioperative team. You will deliver high-quality perioperative care, rotate between scrub and scout roles, and contribute to patient safety and theatre efficiency while partnering with surgeons, anaesthetists, and nursing staff.

You must hold current AHPRA registration as an RN, have at least 4 years post-graduate experience in acute surgical care, and value mentoring juniors.

Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for highly motivated and experienced Scrub Nurse to join our dynamic team at Westmead Private Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play an essential role in supporting perioperative workflow.You will be supported by experienced clinical educators and have ongoing professional development opportunities, all while contributing to a hospital known for its excellence in patient outcomes and supportive team culture.

As a Scrub Nurse you will perform duties supported by a dedicated educator ensuring direct access to education and professional development to ensure a high level of quality patient care is delivered within the Perioperative Department.Delivering precise, high-quality perioperative care by expertly transitioning between the scrub and scout roles to maintain sterile field integrity and anticipate surgical team needs. You will actively ensure patient safety, meticulous instrument accountability, and seamless theatre workflows across a diverse range of surgical procedures.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting perioperative workflow and maintaining timely theatre schedules
• Communicating effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and nursing teams
• Demonstrating sound clinical judgment and adaptability in a busy environment
• Promoting a culture of safety, empathy, and respect across all interactions

About You

You will be a trained nurse with exceptional customer service, confident communication, and strong interpersonal skills. You will also demonstrate:

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum 4 years post graduate experience in the acute surgical care
• Relevant post graduate qualifications will be highly regarded
• A passion for mentoring junior team members and positively influencing their performance
• Clinical leadership experience is desirable but not essential.

Remuneration

On offer is a base hourly rate ranging from$40.24 - $56.52+ superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (NSW RN/Midwife gr1-gr8)
