St Vincent's Private Hospital Launceston is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to join our Theatre Services. You will contribute to instrument and circulating roles and deliver high-quality care across the operating theatre and PACU.

The role focuses on patient-centred perioperative care, with opportunities to work in orthopaedic theatre settings and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient surgical journeys.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Recent perioperative experience with instrument and circulating roles.
• PACU experience required; orthopaedic theatre experience desirable.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centred care within a safe perioperative environment.
• Provide skilled nursing care in the Operating Theatre, including instrument and circulating roles.
• Assess, monitor and care for patients within the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU).
• Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to clinical excellence, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join St Vincent's Private Hospital Launceston as we continue to grow and expand our Theatre Services.

This position will suit an experienced perioperative nurse with demonstrated skills in instrument and circulating nursing and PACU. Experience within orthopaedic surgery is highly desirable.

As a Registered Nurse within our Theatre Department, you will work across a dynamic perioperative environment, contributing to exceptional patient care within the Operating Theatre and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU). Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and multidisciplinary team, you will play an integral role in delivering safe, high-quality care throughout the surgical journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor and care for patients within the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU)

What You Bring

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Recent experience working within a perioperative setting
• Demonstrated experience in instrument and circulating nursing roles
• Experience working within a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU)
• Orthopaedic theatre experience highly desirable
• Sound clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
