Job summary

Calvary Mater Newcastle is seeking a Registered Nurse Medical Oncology for a permanent full-time position. You will deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care to people with cancer across the continuum, including diagnosis through chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy support.

Applicants must be an AHPRA-registered nurse with at least two years’ post‑registration experience (Acute) and an interest in oncology nursing.

• Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration to practise in Australia.
• Minimum two years’ post-registration experience in acute care.
• Interest in oncology nursing and patient-centred cancer care.

Responsibilities

The Medical Oncology Registered Nurse delivers safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care to people with cancer across the continuum of care. This includes supporting patients from diagnosis through chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy, symptom management, survivorship, and end-of-life care.

About you

• Registered Nurse authorised to practise in Australia by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Proven minimum two years’ post-registration experience (Acute)
• Interest in Oncology nursing
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support patients and families in a sensitive and emotionally demanding environment
• Ability to work effectively and calmly in a fast-paced clinical setting, managing competing priorities while maintaining safe, patient-centred care
• Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to recognise, escape, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with excellent organisational and time-management skills and a commitment to ongoing professional development

Desirable

• Experience in Oncology Nursing or similar area
