Job summary

Adventist HealthCare's Sydney Adventist Hospital (the San) invites applications for a permanent Registered Nurse in our 30-bed Intensive Care Unit. Qualifications

• Must have current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years post registration experience in a critical care setting
• Postgraduate qualifications or enrolment in Critical Care/Intensive Care Nursing (desirable)
• Sound clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond effectively in rapidly changing situations
• Must be available to work a rotating roster, including AM, PM, and night shifts
• Exceptional communicator with demonstrated experience communicating with patients, families and colleagues
• Full Australian working rights - sponsorship is not available

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced acute nursing care to patients with complex and critical needs in a state-of-the-art ICU.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Manage a fast-paced, diverse caseload and support the Emergency Department, theatres and medical/surgical wards.
• Be supported by NUM, CNS and CNE to develop clinical expertise and advance skills.

What you will be doing in this role

As a permanent Registered Nurse within our 30-bed, state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit, you will provide advanced acute nursing care to patients with complex and critical needs. ICU is a highly specialised environment, and you will work collaboratively within a close‑knit, multidisciplinary team of experienced and dedicated professionals to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

This is a fast‑paced and dynamic unit, managing a diverse and complex caseload while supporting a busy Emergency Department, 20 Operating Theatres, and both medical and surgical wards.

You will be supported and encouraged by our Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) and Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE) to further develop your clinical expertise, advance your skills and continue your professional learning.

Who we’re looking for

• Must have current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years post registration experience with critical care setting
• Postgraduate qualifications or current enrolment in Critical Care or Intensive Care Nursing (desirable)
• Sound clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond effectively in rapidly changing situations
• Must be available to work a rotating roster, including AM, PM, and night shifts, to meet the operational requirements of the unit
• Exceptional communicator (both verbally and written) with demonstrated experience in professionally communicating with patients, their families and colleagues
