Job summary

Healthscope is seeking a Registered Nurse - Clinical Nurse Educator to join the Nepean Private Hospital High Dependency Unit on a full-time basis. You will lead formal and informal education, mentor nursing staff, and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in acute critical care, AHPRA registration, and a passion for professional development. The role offers a supportive team and opportunities across our network.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent required.
  • Current Registration with AHPRA is required for practice.
  • Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE) or working towards it is preferred.
  • Working with Children check is required.
  • Advanced Life Support certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Minimum 3–5 years post‑registration experience in acute critical care.

Responsibilities

  • Identify educational needs with Nursing Leaders and Clinical Support Functions.
  • Lead and foster a learning environment.
  • Maintain professional and constructive working relationships.
  • Prioritise Healthscope patient safety and quality frameworks.

Nepean Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join our High Dependency Unit on a Full Time basis. You will play a key role within a supportive team in ensuring high levels of patient care is provided.

Nepean Private Hospital is in the multi-cultural Western Sydney City of Penrith. The hospital is a modern 109 bed facility providing a wide range of health services to the local community since 2000 including: orthopaedics, spinal, gynaecology, ENT, plastics, urology and general surgery, endoscopy, cardiology, cardiac angiography and obstetrics. Nepean Private Hospital has eight operating theatres, one hybrid/cardiac catheterisation theatre and an endoscopy suite, supported by a critical care unit which includes intensive care.

Responsibilities
  • Identify educational needs by partnering with Nursing Leaders (i.e. DON, NUM, CNS) and Clinical Support Functions (i.e. Quality, Infection Control)
  • Lead and foster a learning environment
  • Maintain professional and constructive working relationship
  • Prioritises Healthscope’s patient safety and quality frameworks
  • Authority to Work in Australia
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent
  • Current Registration (no restriction) with AHPRA
  • Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE) or working towards
  • Working with Children check
  • Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
  • Demonstrated experience in eLearning platforms
  • Knowledge of adult learning practises and contemporary education practises
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office
  • Self-motivated and proven ability to work as part of a high functioning team
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, proactive, motivated and customer focused
  • Minimum 3-5 years post-registration experience in an acute critical care setting, with experience in a mixed High dependency unit (HDU), intensive care unit (ICU) or coronary care unit (CCU).
  • Advanced life support or willing to obtain
Technical Competencies

Proven advanced clinical skills in high-acuity interventions, specifically 12‑lead ECG interpretation, Temporary Cardiac Pacing, Non‑Invasive Ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP), invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and the management of vasoactive infusions.

Clinical coaching and communication

Demonstrated ability to deliver effective bedside teaching, formulate education needs analyses and mentor diverse nursing staff utilizing high level interpersonal and ISOBAR communication frameworks.

Post graduate

certificate or diploma in critical care, acute care or cardiovascular nursing.
