Healthscope Hospitals is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator to lead hands-on education and clinical teaching for graduate and student nurses in the perioperative environment. You will promote evidence-based care and ensure mandatory training compliance, while supporting staff development.

The role offers part-time hours (22.8hrs/week), with a focus on flexible rostering and a supportive workplace culture within HVPH, near Newcastle.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with current AHPRA registration and active practice.
  • Experience delivering clinical education and mentoring to learners.
  • Experience with eLearning platforms and online training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands‑on clinical education and mentoring to graduate nurses and students in perioperative settings.
  • Coordinate and oversee mandatory training and eLearning completions.
  • Facilitate clinical teaching to enhance knowledge and confidence.
  • Promote evidence‑based care and act as a role model for staff.

About the role:

Hunter Valley Private Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Educator to join their established hospital team.

Reporting to the Perioperative Manager, you will take on a leadership role in providing hands on educational support and clinical teaching/facilitation to graduate nurses & students. You will promote a high standard of evidence‑based nursing care to all patients, through dissemination of current best practice knowledge. In addition, you will also ensure staff compliance to annual Mandatory Training and completion of eLearning components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide hands‑on clinical education, support, and mentoring to graduate nurses and student nurses within the perioperative environment.
  • Facilitate clinical teaching and professional development activities to enhance nursing knowledge, skills, and confidence.
  • Promote and support the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care through the dissemination of current best practice information.
  • Act as a clinical resource and role model, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence in patient care.
  • Monitor and support staff compliance with annual Mandatory Training requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee the completion of required eLearning modules and competency‑based education programs.
  • Identify learning needs and implement educational strategies to support workforce development and clinical practice improvement.
  • Participate in and contribute to policy and procedure review meetings to ensure clinical practices align with current standards and guidelines.
  • Attend and actively contribute toward meetings and bi‑monthly Education Meetings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, effective, and patient‑centred perioperative care.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, accreditation requirements, and ongoing professional development activities across the department.
  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • Post Graduate Certificate in related specialty area (or working towards)
  • Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE) (or working towards)
  • Educator experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in eLearning platforms
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF- NSW Nurse and Midwives' -Enterprise Agreement2022, a salary ranging from $59.55 - $61.52 per hour.
