Job summary

Nepean Private Hospital, part of Healthscope Hospitals, is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to lead education for our High Dependency Unit. You will foster a learning environment, mentor nursing staff and ensure high standards of patient care in a busy HDU/ICU setting.

You will bring ACSU/ALS experience, AHPRA registration, and a commitment to professional development across the network. The role is full-time and located in Western Sydney within Nepean Private Hospital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent.
• Post graduate certificate or diploma in critical care, acute care or cardiovascular nursing.
• Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE) or working towards.

Responsibilities

• Identify educational needs by partnering with Nursing Leaders and Clinical Support Functions.
• Lead and foster a learning environment.
• Maintain professional working relationships and support patient safety and quality frameworks.
• Deliver bedside teaching and mentor nursing staff using ISOBAR communication.
• Demonstrate experience with eLearning platforms and adult learning principles.

Nepean Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join our High Dependency Unit on a Full Time basis. You will play a key role within a supportive team in ensuring high levels of patient care is provided.

Nepean Private Hospital is in the multi-cultural Western Sydney City of Penrith. The hospital is a modern 109 bed facility providing a wide range of health services to the local community since 2000 including: orthopaedics, spinal, gynaecology, ENT, plastics, urology and general surgery, endoscopy, cardiology, cardiac angiography and obstetrics. Nepean Private Hospital has eight operating theatres, one hybrid/cardiac catheterisation theatre and an endoscopy suite, supported by a critical care unit which includes intensive care.

Responsibilities

• Identify educational needs by partnering with Nursing Leaders (i.e. DON, NUM, CNS) and Clinical Support Functions (i.e. Quality, Infection Control)
• Lead and foster a learning environment
• Maintain professional and constructive working relationship
• Prioritises Healthscope’s patient safety and quality frameworks
• Authority to Work in Australia
• Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent
• Current Registration (no restriction) with AHPRA
• Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE) or working towards
• Working with Children check
• Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
• Demonstrated experience in eLearning platforms
• Knowledge of adult learning practises and contemporary education practises
• High degree of computer literacy including MS Office
• Self-motivated and proven ability to work as part of a high functioning team
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, proactive, motivated and customer focused
• Minimum 3-5 years post-registration experience in an acute critical care setting, with experience in a mixed High dependency unit (HDU), intensive care unit (ICU) or coronary care unit (CCU).
• Advanced life support or willing to obtain

Technical Competencies

Proven advanced clinical skills in high-acuity interventions, specifically 12‑lead ECG interpretation, Temporary Cardiac Pacing, Non‑Invasive Ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP), invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and the management of vasoactive infusions.

Clinical coaching and communication

Demonstrated ability to deliver effective bedside teaching, formulate education needs analyses and mentor diverse nursing staff utilizing high level interpersonal and ISOBAR communication frameworks.

Post graduate

certificate or diploma in critical care, acute care or cardiovascular nursing.
