Job summary

The Mater Hospital at North Sydney seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join its Cardiac Ward. You will deliver expert nursing care for patients with acute cardiac conditions and post-operative neurosurgical care in a premier private hospital setting.

Role is permanent full-time or part-time with a 24/7 rotating roster. NMBA registration is required, with opportunities to grow in a renowned centre of clinical excellence.

Qualifications

  • Current NMBA registration as a Registered Nurse (Australia).
  • Clinical experience in cardiology, neurosurgery, acute medical and/or critical care environments.
  • Strong skills in complex clinical assessment, critical thinking and rapid escalation.
  • Exceptional communication, time management and patient-centred teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical nursing care to patients with acute cardiac conditions and complex neurosurgical interventions.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret telemetry, and manage specialised cardiac medications.
  • Perform neurological assessments (GCS monitoring, neurovascular checks) and manage post-operative spinal/cranial patients.
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists, neurosurgeons, allied health professionals, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-procedure recovery, rehabilitation, and long-term health management.

About the Role

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in cardiology, neurosurgery, acute medical and/ or critical care environments.
  • Strong skills in complex clinical assessment, critical thinking and rapid escalation.
  • Exceptional communication, time management and patient-centred teamwork skills.
