Job summary

GenesisCare is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our radiation oncology teams on a casual basis across Footscray, Epping, our Melbourne clinics and a new Werribee clinic. You will deliver best-practice nursing care within a close-knit multidisciplinary team, with training provided for oncology nursing as needed.

Ideal candidates have strong communication and empathy, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience (preferred).
• Oncology nursing background preferred; training will be provided.
• Strong interpersonal communication and empathy for patients and carers.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to best-practice principles and NSQHS; ongoing professional development.
• Experience in wound care management.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care meeting physical and psychological needs.
• Direct patient care including education, wound management and medication administration as per Practice Protocol.
• Effectively manage the patients seen each day.
• Facilitate effective lines of communication with doctors, patient services, physicists and radiation therapists and provide up-to-date information regarding patients.
• Ensure all patient interactions are documented, communicated and actioned.
• Monitor and maintain procedures, protocols, practices and clinical guidelines in line with best practice radiation oncology nursing standards.
• Ensure medication management protocols are followed and use ISBAR for handover and documentation.

We are looking for experienced Registered Nurses to join our teams on a casual basis across Footscray, Epping, our metropolitan Melbourne clinics and our new Werribee clinic. As part of a close-knit multidisciplinary team, you will provide best-practice Radiation Oncology nursing care and help deliver an exceptional treatment experience for our patients Ideally, we are seeking an RN with experience in oncology nursing; however, this is not essential, as our supportive and knowledgeable team is happy to provide training. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is motivated to learn, adaptable, and dependable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must, along with the ability to show genuine empathy toward our patients and their carers.

More specifically, you will:

• Provide excellent patient care, ensuring patient's physical and psychological needs are met.
• Undertake direct patient care including education, wound management and medication administration as per Practice Protocol.
• Effectively manage the patients that are seen each day.
• Facilitate effective lines of communication with doctors, patient services, physicists and radiation therapists and provide feedback and up to date information regarding patients.
• Ensure all patient interaction is documented, communicated and actioned.
• Monitor and maintain procedures, protocols, practices and clinical guidelines in line with best practice radiation oncology nursing standards.
• Ensure medication management protocols are followed.
• Use ISBAR communication tool for handover of patients and communication with allied health services along with documentation.
• Demonstrate reliability, motivation and flexibility.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

• Have a current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Have a minimum 2 years post graduate experience (preferred).
• Hold a background in oncology nursing, but not essential.
• Training in radiation oncology nursing will be provided.
• Possess exemplary interpersonal communication skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy for all patients and their carers.
• Have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Show commitment to the application of best practice principles and quality improvement including the NSQHS.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development.
• Are experienced in wound care management.
