Job summary

GenesisCare in Hervey Bay is seeking a Casual Registered Nurse to join our Radiation Oncology team. You will deliver patient-centered care with a focus on comfort, education and safety, within a supportive multidisciplinary setting.

The role offers flexibility, development opportunities in oncology nursing, and a commitment to best-practice standards. AHPRA registration is required, with 2+ years post-grad experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience (preferred).
• Oncology nursing preferred; radiation oncology nursing training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care addressing physical and psychological needs.
• Direct patient care including education, wound management and medication administration.
• Manage the daily patient load and priorities.
• Facilitate communication with doctors, patient services, physicists and radiation therapists with timely feedback.
• Document, communicate and action all patient interactions.
• Monitor and maintain procedures and clinical guidelines in line with best practice standards.
• Ensure adherence to medication management protocols.
• Utilise ISBAR for handover and inter-disciplinary communication.
• Demonstrate reliability, motivation and flexibility.

Join our Radiation Oncology team in Hervey Bay as a Casual Registered Nurse. You'll work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering exceptional care, with no night shifts or weekend work.

Whether you have oncology experience or are looking to develop in this specialty area, you'll be supported by an experienced team committed to helping you grow. We're looking for a compassionate, reliable and adaptable nurse who is passionate about delivering high quality patient care.

More specifically, you will:

• Provide excellent patient care, ensuring patient's physical and psychological needs are met.
• Undertake direct patient care including education, wound management and medication administration as per Practice Protocol.
• Effectively manage the patients that are seen each day.
• Facilitate effective lines of communication with doctors, patient services, physicists and radiation therapists and provide feedback and up to date information regarding patients.
• Ensure all patient interaction is documented, communicated and actioned.
• Monitor and maintain procedures, protocols, practices and clinical guidelines in line with best practice radiation oncology nursing standards.
• Ensure medication management protocols are followed.
• Use ISBAR communication tool for handover of patients and communication with allied health services along with documentation.
• Demonstrate reliability, motivation and flexibility.

We're interested in hearing from people who:

• Have a current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Have a minimum 2 years post graduate experience (preferred).
• Hold a background in oncology nursing, but not essential. Training in radiation oncology nursing will be provided.
• Possess exemplary interpersonal communication skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy for all patients and their carers.
• Have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Show commitment to the application of best practice principles and quality improvement including the NSQHS.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development.
• Are experienced in wound care management
