Job summary

Cairns Doctors & Specialists on Barr Street in Cairns, QLD, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join a busy general practice. You will work alongside 12 GPs, specialists and a wide range of allied health professionals in a collaborative, supportive team environment.

The role covers chronic disease management, preventive care, minor procedures, vaccinations, wound care and patient education. Nursing staff include AINs, ENs and RNs, with opportunities to develop skills across multiple areas of care.

Qualifications

• Registered/Enrolled Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
• Experience in general practice is desirable, but we are happy to support the right person.
• A positive, friendly and team-focused attitude.
• Ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
• Willingness to learn and take on new experiences.
• Someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and being part of a close-knit team.

Responsibilities

• Chronic Disease Management including Care Plans, Health Assessments & Diabetes Cycle of Care
• ECG's & Spirometry
• Assisting doctors with minor surgical procedures
• Daily co-ordination of the treatment room, stock control and medical equipment maintenance
• Implementing and practicing infection control as per Accreditation Standards
• Assisting in skin excision procedures
• Vaccinations and immunisations
• Wound care and dressings
• UV skin treatments
• Driving medicals
• Mining medicals LED therapy
• Assisting with vasectomies

Your role will be varied, hands-on and rewarding, with opportunities to gain experience across many areas of general practice and procedural medicine. You will be working in a busy medical practice alongside 12 GPs, specialists and a wide range of allied health professionals, including a gynaecologist, dermatologist and surgeons. Our nursing team is made up of AINs, ENs and RNs, and we pride ourselves on working together as a team while also giving our nurses the opportunity to work independently and build their skills.

Key responsibilities
