Job summary

Rural Fibre Co is hiring a Service Locator to support Gippsland network projects. The role focuses on safe excavation, locating and protecting underground utilities, and documenting findings.

Based in Pakenham with travel across Gippsland, you will use GPR, EML, and NDD techniques daily, ensuring accurate records and strong safety practices. We value precise teamwork, attention to detail, and a proactive safety mindset.

Qualifications

• White Card / Construction Induction Card is required.
• RIICCM202E Identify, Locate and Protect Underground Services certification is required.
• HR Licence is highly desirable.
• Certloc Certified Locator is highly regarded or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Identify, locate, mark, and record underground services and utilities.
• Utilise locating equipment including GPR, EML, transmitters, and hand tools.
• Conduct non-destructive vacuum excavation (NDD) to expose and validate underground assets.
• Read and interpret BYDA plans, construction drawings, aerial imagery, and digital data.
• Validate underground services through potholing, hand excavation, and NDD verification.
• Prepare and distribute accurate service locating reports and project documentation.
• Communicate locating requirements and findings with site personnel.
• Maintain compliance with safety policies and risk controls.
• Support construction teams with accurate locating information to prevent asset strikes.
