Job summary

Salvos Stores is seeking an Area Manager to lead a network of Gold Coast and Central QLD stores from our Gold Coast support office. This permanent full-time role combines retail leadership with a mission-driven approach to support The Salvation Army’s programs.

You will inspire Store Managers and volunteers, drive KPIs, and ensure excellent in-store experiences for customers and donors, while expanding community impact across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in multi-site retail management.
• Excellent people leadership and communication skills.
• Strong commercial acumen and confidence with business reporting.
• Hands-on approach with community impact.
• Aligned with mission and values: integrity, respect, compassion, collaboration, and diversity.

Responsibilities

• Inspire, coach, and develop Store Managers, paid staff, and volunteers.
• Collaborate with the Regional Manager to align area performance with national strategy.
• Lead area to meet KPIs—sales, surplus, safety, and service—including eCommerce goals.
• Champion operational excellence, merchandising standards, and a safety-first culture.
• Analyse and act on business reports to drive strong commercial and social results.
• Manage new store openings, refurbishments, and store transitions.
• Proactively recruit and retain volunteers and employees across locations.
