Job summary

Transport for NSW is hiring a Project Engineer (Lvl 1-2) for a fixed-term full-time role in NSW. Based in Newcastle or New England Region, you’ll contribute to road, bridge and traffic infrastructure projects from planning through delivery.

You’ll bring a four-year civil engineering degree, a current Australian driver’s licence, and a willingness to travel to sites and work outside standard hours to support safe, high-quality outcomes across programs.

Qualifications

• Experience in infrastructure or maintenance project delivery.
• Knowledge of road, bridge or transport infrastructure construction or maintenance.
• Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative approach with a commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• Four-year civil engineering degree from an Australian University or equivalent overseas qualification.
• Current and valid Australian driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel to attend work sites and work outside standard hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Join our Regional Road Network Maintenance team within the Road Maintenance and Resilience Division, supporting delivery of infrastructure and maintenance projects.
• Support the planning and delivery of road, bridge and traffic infrastructure or maintenance projects to achieve agreed time, cost, quality and scope outcomes.
• Manage project investigations and design activities, including preparing project briefs, estimates and delivery programs.
• Prepare technical specifications and contract documentation to support procurement and delivery of works.
• Monitor Principal Contractor delivered works to ensure safe, compliant and efficient project delivery.
• Apply effective cost management practices to support strong financial performance across projects.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, delivery partners and stakeholders to resolve issues and support successful outcomes.
• Contribute to workplace health, safety and environmental management practices across project delivery.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset management and project delivery outcomes.
• We have multiple Limited Full-Time positions with a proposed end date of 30/6/2030 available across our Regional Delivery and Statewide Services Delivery Strategy teams.
• Located in the New England Region - Newcastle, Tamworth or Dubbo.
