Job summary

Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a Communications and Engagement Officer to lead media, digital and community engagement initiatives across the Shire. You will coordinate internal communications, staff newsletters, respond to media enquiries and create engaging content for social channels and the website.

The role requires tertiary qualifications in communications or a related field, strong copywriting and photography skills, and proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and CMS platforms.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media, Marketing, or a related discipline.
• Proven copywriting, editing and storytelling across diverse media releases, publications and features.
• Experience managing website CMS platforms and corporate social channels, with basic photo/video editing.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign and Photoshop, for on-brand collateral.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage with community members, teams and external media.
• Current Class C Drivers Licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal communications and staff newsletters.
• Respond professionally to media enquiries and produce engaging digital content.
• Design on-brand publications using graphic design software; capture photography and video.
• Plan and assist in community consultation initiatives and civic events.
• Manage Council social media channels and website content.
