Job description

About the Role

Reporting to the Hubs Manager and operating across the Site hub and outreach spokes, the Refugee and Disability Post Placement Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting participants from refugee backgrounds and people with disabilities, particularly once they have secured employment. This role is dedicated to ensuring sustainable and positive employment outcomes through a proactive, hands-on approach that benefits both participants and employers.

Frequent and regular contact is maintained with both the participant and the employer, delivered onsite and via phone, to provide timely guidance and address emerging needs. The officer facilitates access to workplace adjustments and government support subsidies, negotiates work roles and responsibilities to fit both employee and employer needs, and delivers tailored support that enhances job retention.

A core responsibility is to collect and organise documentary evidence that supports outcome claims, ensuring compliance and transparency in reporting. The officer works closely with the IEA team to maintain and secure suitable employment opportunities, focusing on the ‘in work support’ phase once employment is attained. This includes delivering ongoing support services and fostering strong employer partnerships, with a particular emphasis on return service to grow and sustain employer relationships.

The officer is instrumental in achieving 4, 12, 26 and 52-week outcome milestones, as well as ongoing support targets, all of which are crucial for revenue generation, performance metrics, and successful participant outcomes. Their comprehensive approach ensures both the employer and participant are continuously supported, contributing to mutually beneficial employment relationships.

Essential Criteria
  • Completion of, or willingness to enrol in Certificate IV in Employment Services
  • High attention to detail and computer administration skills to effectively track and obtain documentary evidence for outcome claims
  • High level customer centric approach and the ability to show empathy to job seekers and clients.
  • Good working knowledge of local, state and national labour markets.
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting KPI’s and ensuring compliance.
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity, with experience working in multicultural settings.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple client cases simultaneously.
Desirable Experience
  • Understanding of CALD and refugee client requirements and/or lived experience.
  • An understanding of the challenges facing people with a disability or mental illness entering the workforce, or any lived experience in this area.
  • Experience working in community advocacy, social services, disability support, or refugee settlement programs.
  • Arabic speaking would be an advantage
