Job summary

P & R Commercial Refrigeration in Campbellfield, VIC is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis. You will install, maintain and repair commercial refrigeration systems to support our clients' operations.

The role requires certification, a Victorian REL licence, and the ability to diagnose faults with diagnostic tools. You will work independently and as part of a team, travel to client sites, and uphold health, safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Current refrigeration mechanic certification or equivalent qualification recognised in Victoria
• Current Victorian REL licence
• Proven experience with commercial refrigeration systems in maintenance/service
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles, thermodynamics, and electrical systems
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, pressure gauges, and specialised refrigeration tools
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when diagnosing/repairing equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills to explain technical information to clients
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites across the region
• Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance
• Familiarity with computer-aided diagnostic systems and common commercial refrigeration brands

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems for a diverse range of clients
• Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration equipment faults using specialised tools and diagnostic equipment
• Perform routine maintenance and servicing on refrigeration units to ensure optimal performance and longevity
• Repair and replace faulty components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems
• Conduct gas handling and refrigerant management in compliance with environmental and safety regulations
• Respond to emergency service calls and provide timely solutions to minimise client downtime
• Document all work completed, including service reports and maintenance records
• Liaise with clients to understand their refrigeration needs and provide professional advice on system optimisation
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all work activities
• Support the team by sharing knowledge and assisting junior technicians where necessary
