J.J. Kerr's Appliance Centre is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our team in North Rockhampton, QLD. This is a full-time position based on-site at our North Rockhampton location. As a Refrigeration Air Conditioning Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, repairing, and installing refrigeration and air conditioning systems for our clients. This position is essential to our operations, ensuring that we deliver high-quality service and maintain our reputation for excellence in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry.

What you'll be doing

• Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems for residential clients
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in AC and refrigeration equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques
• Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance on air conditioning and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance
• Conduct system inspections and testing to identify leaks, blockages, and other issues affecting system efficiency
• Recharge refrigerant systems and replace components such as compressors, condensers, and evaporators
• Comply with all relevant safety regulations, including the handling of refrigerants in accordance with environmental and workplace health and safety standards
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, including job details, parts used, and labour hours
• Communicate effectively with clients to explain repairs, maintenance requirements, and provide cost estimates
• Respond to emergency service calls and provide timely solutions to minimise downtime for clients
• Keep abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in refrigeration and air conditioning systems

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification in refrigeration and air conditioning, such as a Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
• Current ARTIC licence
• Proven experience as a refrigeration air conditioning mechanic, ideally with at least 3 years' hands-on experience
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycle and air conditioning system operation
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and tools commonly used in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry
