Job summary

Morayfield Smash Repairs is seeking a Refinish Technician to prepare and paint vehicles to high industry standards after accident repairs. You will handle colour matching, surface preparation and paint application using professional spray equipment, contributing to restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition.

Applicants should have Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology and 2+ years of spray-painting experience, with knowledge of Autolac water-based systems.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology or equivalent.
• Proven experience in automotive spray painting or refinishing (2+ years preferred).
• Knowledge of paint systems, especially Autolac water-based system.
• Familiarity with colour matching software and spectrometers advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform all stages of vehicle refinish including sanding, masking, priming, colour matching, and final coating.
• Use spray-painting equipment, HVLP systems, and bake ovens as required.
• Mix and match paints to achieve accurate colours and finishes according to manufacturer specifications.
• Inspect surfaces for defects and perform touch-ups or corrections as needed.
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of spray booth and work area.
• Comply with environmental, safety, and quality control standards.
• Work in coordination with panel beaters, estimators, and other workshop staff.
• Maintain accurate job documentation and time tracking for each repair.
• Participate in training and keep up with advancements in refinish technology and techniques.

Key responsibilities
