Job summary

St Vincent’s Public Hospital in Sydney is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Recovery Unit. This permanent full-time role covers post‑operative care, collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, and on‑roster shifts from 0730 to 2200 with on‑call overnight requirements.

You will lead nursing care within the Recovery Unit, delegate to Enrolled Nurses and HCWs, and coordinate communication with anaesthetists and surgeons to support patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.
• Experience in acute care such as operating theatres.
• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team with effective communication.
• Evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills.
• Strong time management to prioritise competing workloads.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients after surgery and anaesthesia, monitor health status.
• Develop and provide nursing care with the team and evaluate progress.
• Coordinate ongoing care and communicate with anaesthetists, surgeons, and services.
• Lead nursing care coordination within the Recovery Unit.
• Delegate care to Enrolled Nurses and HCWs while ensuring accountability.
