Job summary

RATP Dev Western Sydney Airport (RDWSA) seeks an experienced Traffic Controller to support safe train movements across the Sydney Metro network. Working in the OCC, you will coordinate mainline and depot movements during test, commissioning and passenger operations, ensuring procedures, safety rules and timely information flow.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in rail operations, strong calmness under pressure, and a customer-focused mindset to maintain high service standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in rail or transport operations, with at least 3 years in a control room.
• Experience in safety-critical environments with established rules and procedures.
• Calm, focused and decisive under pressure, including degraded or emergency situations.
• Strong planning, organisational and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to operate and interpret complex safety-critical systems.
• Customer focus with operational decision making centered on passengers.

Responsibilities

• Train Movement & Operational Control: manage movements across mainline and facility, including shunting and test track access.
• Test & Commissioning: support testing to ensure operational readiness.
• Network Operations: regulate services and assist timetable delivery in all conditions.
• Incident & Degraded Operations: respond to incidents and support service recovery.
• Service Monitoring: monitor ATS, DSPM and other systems, identify faults and act.
• Customer Service & Communication: provide timely information and announcements.
• Operational Readiness: develop safe operational practices for transition to passenger operations.
• Safety & Compliance: keep safety as priority, record risks and apply controls.
• Reporting: document events and actions in OCC logbook and communicate with stakeholders.
