Job summary

ARTC in Australia is seeking a skilled planner to optimise track access for maintenance and project delivery while minimising impacts on train operations. You will assess possession requests, develop plan variations, and collaborate with multiple teams to secure effective access.

Based in Newcastle or Adelaide, you will represent ARTC in forums, monitor possessions, and provide operational advice to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Rail freight or logistics experience with ARTC and Melbourne Metro Rail Networks.
• Experience or knowledge in train and possession planning.
• Strong planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and information management systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan and optimise track access for maintenance and project works while minimising impacts on train operations across the Network.
• Assess and coordinate track access and possession requests, ensuring works are planned within operational limits.
• Develop temporary variations to the Master Train Plan and coordinate stakeholder consultation and communication.
• Collaborate with asset maintainers, project teams, operators to secure effective track access and maintain train path continuity.
• Represent ARTC at possession planning forums, project meetings and stakeholder discussions.
• Monitor possessions and their impact on train running, providing recommendations to improve planning and approval processes.
• Prepare possession planning reports, recommendations and supporting records.
• Provide operational advice and support to Network Coordination on planned possessions, altered train paths and project-related issues.
