Job summary

Aurizon in Maitland region is seeking an experienced Leading Hand / Signalman to support day-to-day signalling and rail infrastructure maintenance across NSW and South Maitland networks. The role spans a Monday-to-Friday roster, starting at 7:00 am, with four 10-hour shifts in week 1 and week 2 a mix of 10s and an 8-hour day.

You will plan, coordinate and lead the team, supervise contractors, prepare safety docs, and ensure work meets standards, timeframes and budget expectations.

Qualifications

  • Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (Mandatory).
  • Experience supervising rail infrastructure maintenance activities.
  • Experience coordinating the day-to-day operations of a work group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily rail infrastructure maintenance activities.
  • Supervise coordination of team members, contractors, equipment and track machines.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation (pre-starts and SWMS).
  • Ensure work meets rail standards, quality, timeframes and budget.
  • Support budgets through cost monitoring and financial understanding.
  • Promote a safe work environment and compliance with rail safety standards.
  • Support machine operation and servicing to maximise availability.
  • Build effective relationships across the team for reliable outcomes.
