Job summary

Queensland Rail is seeking a Tutor Suburban Rail Operator to join our RMC and Operations team based at Bowen Hills in a permanent full-time role. You will deliver operational training, accreditation and reaccreditation programs for Trainee Suburban Rail Operators and Yard Coordinators, providing coaching and assessment.

This role is ideal for an experienced rail operations professional who mentors others, maintains high standards and contributes to a safe, reliable railway.

Qualifications

• Experience in rail operations including shunting, marshalling or yard activities.
• Ability to coach and assess trainees in classroom and on-site settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to engage a diverse workforce.
• Solid knowledge of rail safety procedures and QR's Safety Management Framework.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and support accreditation and reaccreditation programs for Suburban Rail Operators and Yard Coordinators.
• Perform training and assessment for Shunters and Foreman Shunters in classroom and live environments.
• Monitor trainee progression and provide coaching, mentoring and feedback.
• Ensure accreditation requirements are completed within timeframes per Queensland Rail standards.
• Support operations by safely performing shunting duties and providing expertise when required.
• Maintain knowledge of yard operations, safeworking, rolling stock movements and point systems.
• Promote compliance with Queensland Rail's Safety Management Framework and procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of training effectiveness and safety performance.
• Build positive relationships with leaders and frontline staff to support capability.
