Job summary

Linfox is seeking an experienced Rail Operations Manager for Sydney. You will lead a safety‑driven rail operation with end‑to‑end accountability for performance, financial outcomes and customer service across the network.

You will manage a high‑performing team, drive continuous improvement, budget ownership and stakeholder engagement to deliver sustainable growth and operational excellence in a challenging logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Strong stakeholder management enabling trusted relationships across customers, regulators, contractors and internal teams.
• Proven experience in leading, coaching and developing high-performing operational teams.
• Sound commercial and financial management capability including budgeting, cost control, and P&L accountability.
• Proactive, analytical, solution-focused mindset with a track record of delivering improvements and results.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end accountability for the Sydney rail operation, safety, performance and financial outcomes.
• Lead, coach and develop leaders and operational teams to drive accountability and engagement.
• Manage weekly P&L, budget, costs and productivity improvement initiatives.

Linfox operates one of Australia's largest and most critical Intermodal networks, delivering rail and road freight solutions that keep the country's supply chains moving. As we continue to invest in our rail operations and expand our capability to meet growing customer demand, we are seeking an experienced and commercially driven leader to join our team as Rail Operations Manager - Sydney.

Reporting to the Group Manager Rail, this is a significant leadership opportunity with end-to-end accountability for the Sydney rail operation. You will be responsible for safety, operational performance, financial outcomes, customer relationships and the development of a high-performing team. With ownership of the site's weekly P&L, operational strategy and customer service delivery, you will play a key role in driving sustainable growth and operational excellence across the network. Key areas:

• Promoting a safety-first culture through effective risk management, compliance, incident management and continuous improvement of site safety performance
• Leading rail operations to ensure service delivery, operational efficiency and customer expectations are consistently achieved
• Managing the site's commercial performance through budget ownership, weekly P&L management, cost control and productivity improvement initiatives
• Building strong customer partnerships, acting as the key point of contact for operational performance and identifying opportunities for business growth
• Leading, coaching and developing leaders and operational teams to drive accountability, capability and engagement
• Driving continuous improvement across safety, operational performance, environmental outcomes and customer service excellence
