Job summary

Swietelsky Rail Australia seeks an experienced Trade Based Operator/Maintainer (Mechanical or Electrical) to join our plant maintenance team with base at Telarah and project work across the Australian railway networks.

Responsibilities include repair, calibration and operation of Plasser & Theurer OTMs, reading hydraulics and electrical schematics, and performing preventative and major overhaul tasks to maximise equipment availability while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or Electrical trade base.
• Experience operating and maintaining Plasser & Theurer track machines including Ballast Cleaners and Material Handling Wagons.
• Willing to adapt and learn new skills to keep up with evolving technologies and procedures for track & mechanised maintenance.
• Strong commitment to safety & Zero Harm.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid C Class Clean Drivers Licence.
• Ability to work cohesively in a small team.
• Ability to work weekends and nights if required.
• Ability to travel/work away from home when required.
• Ability to pass pre-employment checks including CAT1 rail medical is a must.

Responsibilities

• Repairing, calibration and operation of Plasser and Theurer OTMs.
• Understand hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics and control systems.
• Read simple hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Carry out regular preventative & corrective maintenance, repairs and major overhaul works to maximise equipment availability.
• Perform tasks safely in accordance with Swietelsky and the WHS Act requirements.
• Work effectively on major maintenance and construction projects.
• Work independently and as part of a team in both operations and maintenance activities.
