Job summary

Linfox is seeking an experienced Rail Manager for Sydney to lead the city’s rail operation, delivering safe, reliable freight solutions and strong customer service. You will oversee end-to-end operations, budget ownership and weekly P&L performance, with a focus on growth and operational excellence.

You will manage a high-performing team, drive risk management and continuous improvement, and partner with customers and regulators to optimise service delivery and profitability.

What does the job look like?

Linfox operates one of Australia's largest and most critical Intermodal networks, delivering rail and road freight solutions that keep the country's supply chains moving. As we continue to invest in our rail operations and expand our capability to meet growing customer demand, we are seeking an experienced and commercially driven leader to join our team as Rail Manager - Sydney.

Reporting to the Group Manager Rail, this is a significant leadership opportunity with end-to-end accountability for the Sydney rail operation. You will be responsible for safety, operational performance, financial outcomes, customer relationships and the development of a high-performing team. With ownership of the site's weekly P&L, operational strategy and customer service delivery, you will play a key role in driving sustainable growth and operational excellence across the network. Key areas:

• Promoting a safety-first culture through effective risk management, compliance, incident management and continuous improvement of site safety performance
• Leading rail operations to ensure service delivery, operational efficiency and customer expectations are consistently achieved
• Managing the site's commercial performance through budget ownership, weekly P&L management, cost control and productivity improvement initiatives
• Building strong customer partnerships, acting as the key point of contact for operational performance and identifying opportunities for business growth
• Leading, coaching and developing leaders and operational teams to drive accountability, capability and engagement
• Driving continuous improvement across safety, operational performance, environmental outcomes and customer service excellence

Are you the one?

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across customers, regulators, contractors and internal business functions
• Proven experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing operational teams while driving accountability and engagement
• Sound commercial and financial management capability, including budgeting, cost control, resource optimisation and P&L accountability
• A proactive, analytical and solutions-focused approach with a track record of delivering continuous improvement and operational results
