Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Cedar Creek, Queensland, is seeking an experienced Quarry Laboratory Technician to join our Northern Industries team. This hands-on role focuses on sampling quarry materials and performing testing to ensure quality and compliance on site.

You will conduct production and compliance tests on aggregates, soils, road base, and CTB, and input results into QESTLab. The role emphasizes safety, collaboration with engineers and technicians, and adherence to standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on role with quarry materials sampling and testing.
• Experience with AS 1141 and AS 1289 test methods preferred.
• Ability to enter test results into laboratory reporting software.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental requirements.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Quarry Laboratory Technician to join our Northern Industries team in Cedar Creek.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll bring knowledge of AS 1141, AS 1289, and relevant TMR test methods, along with proven experience in field sampling, and laboratory reporting systems such as QESTLab.

What you’ll do:

• Onsite sampling of quarry materials.
• Undertaking production and compliance testing for samples of aggregate, soils, road base, and CTB material.
• Data entry of test results using laboratory reporting software.
• Equipment checks and calibrations in accordance with the standard and procedures.
• Assisting with the design and performance of laboratory mix designs/ blends and quarry R&D to the required specifications.
• Ensuring compliance with all statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements.

How you’ll connect to the role:

• Previous work history of soil/ aggregate testing.
• Certificate IV in laboratory techniques or signatory (highly advantageous but not essential).
• Current and valid driver's license.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with managers, engineers, and other technical staff.
• Ability to work safely on active construction sites, perform manual handling task, complete equipment setup, and adherence to workplace health and safety requirements.
• Demonstrated commitment to collaborative, ethical behaviour in a client-facing environment and a keen eye for detail.
