Job summary

WT (Australia) Sydney is seeking an Associate Quantity Surveyor to join its Data Centre team. You will lead cost engineering, estimating and cost reporting on mission-critical projects, coordinating with clients and main contractors to maximise value.

The role requires experience in cost management, tendering, and benchmarked cost control, with a focus on data centre environments and complex site conditions. This position offers a full-time on-site role in Sydney.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• Extensive cost estimating experience using CostX.
• Experience with MEP/heavy services projects and major projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex cost engineering on mission-critical projects.
• Collaborate with clients, architects and main contractors.
• Identify new business opportunities and advise on value engineering.
• Prepare master-plans, feasibility Budgets and cost reports.
• Participate in tender evaluations, contract negotiations and cash flows.
• Oversee cost checking of developing designs and final account reporting.

Job Description

The WT Sydney office continues to grow with high-profile new engagements landing with multi-national technology clients, leading to a new, Quantity Surveyor role in the Data Centre team.

With major projects underway and more in the pipeline, we're on the lookout for an experienced Associate that has ideally managed Data Centre projects or other similar mission-critical and complex sites. Ideally those with a real cost-engineer lens and those with electrical and mechanical backgrounds are highly sought.

This role will perform various traditional quantity surveying functions including estimating, planning and cost management, cost monitoring, and accurate and timely financial reporting whilst exercising sound financial acumen with a key focus on proactively maximising value for our clients.

This role is responsible for:

• Complex Cost Engineering on mission-critical projects
• Liaising with clients, architects and main contractors
• Identifying and facilitating new business opportunities
• Master-plan and feasibility budgets
• Cost checking of developing design
• Value engineering
• Tender evaluations and analysis
• Contract negotiations
• Cash flow projects
• Procurement
• Cost reporting
• Final account reporting
• Claims preparation, presentation, negotiation and settlement of claims
• Investment analysis
• Formulating and implementing benchmarking processes to improve the consistency, accuracy and time to prepare cost models and plans

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in any of the following areas: Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
• Extensive experience in cost estimating using Cost X
• Extensive experience in MEP and heavy services projects
• Demonstrated track record of winning and managing major projects
• Experience managing mission-critical projects or similar projects of complex design
