Job summary

WT Sydney is seeking a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management across large and complex projects in the construction sector. The role involves estimating, cost control, financial reporting and mentoring junior staff.

Candidate should bring broad experience in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic trades, and a track record delivering value for clients while managing stakeholder relationships. Australian work rights are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a leadership role and managing client relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work with operational executives.
  • RICS/AIQS accreditation would be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency with CostX for cost estimating and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of the full project life cycle and cost planning.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and facilitate new business opportunities.
  • Prepare master-plan and feasibility budgets.
  • Cost checking of developing design.
  • Tender evaluations and analysis.

Job Description

The WT Sydney office is beyond busy moving into second half of 2026 and due to significant growth and ongoing delivery success with our clients, we’re on the lookout for qualified and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors, ideally with experience across a broad range of experience in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic trades.

This role will perform various quantity surveying functions including estimating, cost management and monitoring, and accurate and timely financial reporting whilst exercising sound financial acumen with a key focus on proactively maximising value for our clients.

This role is client-facing, and those with experience managing stakeholder-dense clients will do well, and likewise, we are looking for someone who wants to be a leader in the industry, delivering large and complex projects while also helping mentor the future generation.

Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification in any of the following areas:

  • Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Experience in a leadership role, managing a team and client relationships
  • Experience working with and supporting operational executives
  • Highly motivated with a passion for delivering excellence to clients
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage a team and control multiple projects/client commissions
  • Full Australian working rights and currently located in Australia
  • RICS / AIQS accredited candidates will be highly regarded
  • Proficient in the use of Cost X
  • Ability to produce both top down and bottom-up cost plans
  • A thorough understanding of the total project life cycle, from conception, through to completion and post-project review
