Quantity Surveyor – Major Civil Infrastructure Projects Work across major civil infrastructure projects throughout NSW Strong career progression with an established and growing contractor Commercially focused role with exposure across the full project lifecycle We are partnering with an established civil infrastructure contractor with more than 19 years of experience delivering major projects across New South Wales, to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. You will gain exposure across roads and bridges, concrete structures, tunnels, rail, communications, electrical and water projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to take greater ownership of project commercial performance while working closely with Project Managers, delivery teams, clients and subcontractors.
About the Role
You will play an important role in the commercial management of civil infrastructure projects, supporting projects from procurement and contract administration through to final account and completion. The position is suited to a Quantity Surveyor who combines strong cost and contract management capability with a practical understanding of civil construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide quantity surveying and commercial support across major civil infrastructure projects.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, tender analysis, negotiations and subcontract agreements.
- Prepare and assess progress claims, variations and subcontractor payment claims.
- Identify, price, substantiate and negotiate project variations.
- Assist with the preparation and management of Extensions of Time (EOTs), contractual claims and project correspondence.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, cash flow and cost-to-complete positions.
- Prepare monthly commercial reports and provide accurate project performance information to management.
- Identify commercial and contractual risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Review and interpret contracts, drawings, specifications, scopes and other project documentation.
- Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to ensure commercial reporting reflects actual project performance.
- Assist with dispute resolution and the management of contractual and commercial issues as they arise.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Contract Administrator or commercial professional within Australian construction.
- Civil infrastructure experience across roads, bridges, rail, structures, utilities, water or similar projects highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, contract administration and commercial management.
- Experience managing variations, progress claims, EOTs and contractual correspondence.
- Strong cost management capability across budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and cost-to-complete reporting.
- Experience with NEC4 and GC21 contracts would be highly regarded.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to achieve commercial outcomes with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ability to confidently interpret contracts, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience with Jobpac or similar construction ERP systems would be advantageous.
