GEDON™ | Precision Search for Complex Construction in Brisbane is seeking an Executive Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management on major Queensland infrastructure packages.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will oversee procurement, subcontracts, cost-to-complete reporting and risk, mentor junior QS staff, and ensure alignment with AS4000/AS2124 contracts within alliance or ECI delivery models.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field; AIQS membership desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Australian standard contracts AS4000/AS2124; alliance/ECI delivery a plus.
• Excellent negotiation, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of major packages on large-scale infrastructure projects in the Brisbane region.
• Manage head contract administration, including progress claims, variations, notices and client-side correspondence.
• Lead subcontract procurement, including tender strategy, evaluation, negotiation and award.
• Administer subcontracts, handling payments, variations and compliance with security of payment law.
• Prepare cost-to-complete forecasts and monthly commercial reporting.
• Identify and manage commercial risk and opportunity; issue early warnings.
• Operate within alliance/ECI delivery models where applicable.
• Negotiate and settle final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors and Cadets within the team.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROJECTS

You will join the commercial team on a major infrastructure project in the Brisbane region, typically involving large-scale civil, transport or public works with complex stakeholder, interface and staging requirements. These are high-value projects where commercial leadership plays a central role in overall success.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work closely with project leadership, engineering, planning and delivery teams, as well as client representatives and a broad subcontractor base. The culture is collaborative and commercially rigorous, with mature systems and senior leaders who are invested in developing the next generation of commercial managers.

The role offers genuine ownership of the commercial position across major packages, from procurement through to final account. It is an excellent platform to build a senior track record on landmark Queensland infrastructure, with long-term project involvement and a clear step towards commercial leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the commercial management of major packages on large-scale infrastructure projects in the Brisbane region
• Manage head contract administration, including progress claims, variations, notices and client-side commercial correspondence
• Lead subcontract procurement, including tender strategy, evaluation, negotiation and award
• Administer subcontracts, managing payment claims, variations and compliance with security of payment legislation
• Prepare cost-to-complete forecasts, cost value reconciliations and monthly commercial reporting
• Identify and manage commercial risk and opportunity, including early warnings and entitlement
• Work within alliance, ECI or collaborative frameworks where applicable, including pain/gain and target cost mechanisms
• Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors
• Mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors and Cadets within the commercial team

WHAT YOU NEED

• Proven experience at Executive QS, Senior QS or Senior Contract Administrator level within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor
• Strong commercial experience on large-scale projects, with infrastructure or civil experience highly beneficial and strong candidates from major building projects also considered
• Sound knowledge of Australian contract forms such as AS4000 and AS2124, and ideally experience of alliance or ECI delivery models
• A strong understanding of the Queensland security of payment framework (BIF Act)
• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline; AIQS membership desirable
• Excellent negotiation, reporting and stakeholder management skills
