Job summary

The BMD Group is seeking a commercially oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team on a major infrastructure project in Brisbane. You will identify, quantify and support entitlements, variations and claims while helping manage project costs, valuations and reporting.

Working closely with Contracts, Engineering, Project Controls, Finance and Site teams, you will contribute to complex contract management and commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Exposure to infrastructure, construction, energy or resources projects.
• Experience with claims, variations and cost management.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
• Attention to detail and proactive delivery.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems.

• Identify, quantify and substantiate contractual claims, variations, extensions of time and other project entitlements.
• Support the preparation and submission of commercial claims and contractual notices.
• Measure completed works and prepare client payment claims.
• Undertake quantity measurements, cost planning and project valuations.
• Monitor project costs and performance against budget.
• Ensure commercial submissions are accurate, evidence-based and contractually compliant.
• Prepare and maintain supporting commercial documentation, records and reports.
• Collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team and play a key role in supporting project outcomes on a major infrastructure project.

Working closely with Contracts, Engineering, Project Controls, Finance and Site teams, you will be responsible for identifying, quantifying and substantiating contractual entitlements, variations and claims, while supporting project cost management, valuations and commercial reporting activities.

This role offers exposure to complex contracts, high-value projects and a collaborative environment where your commercial expertise will directly contribute to project success. Flexible arrangements, including local and FIFO options, may be considered depending on project requirements.

About You

You are a motivated and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment and solving complex commercial challenges.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• Experience in Quantity Surveying, Contract Administration, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• Exposure to infrastructure, construction, engineering, energy or resources projects.
• Experience with claims, variations, progress payments and cost management.
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to delivering outcomes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems.
