Job summary

Babcock Australasia seeks a skilled Quality Technician to support the Collins Class Submarines program at our Woodville North facility. This role ensures the highest quality across processes, handling goods and documentation throughout their lifecycle.

You will generate MDRs, raise NCRs, and assist RTV while collaborating with the Quality Control Team Lead to uphold Australian and international standards. Veterans encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain Commonwealth Security Clearance.
  • Quality Systems knowledge and experience within a quality environment.
  • General knowledge of relevant Australian and International Standards.
  • Metrology experience and use of measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Computer literate and skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc).
  • Experience using ERP Systems, preferably IFS.
  • Trade background or hands-on engineering experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Manage quality control of goods and documentation throughout their lifecycle.
  • Receive, inspect and ensure compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Generate and review Material Data Reports (MDRs) and raise non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Support the Return to Vendor (RTV) process and internal audits.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational quality processes.

About The Role

Join Babcock and be part of a mission-critical team that sustains the operational readiness of the Collins Class Submarines. We are seeking a skilled Quality Technician to work at our state-of-the-art facility in Woodville North, ensuring the highest standards of quality across all operational processes.

In this pivotal role, you will manage the quality control of both goods and documentation throughout their lifecycle. From receiving and inspecting goods to ensuring compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements, your work will be essential in maintaining seamless operations. You’ll also be responsible for generating and reviewing Material Data Reports (MDRs), raising non-conformance reports (NCRs), and supporting the Return to Vendor (RTV) process.

About You

Your expertise will contribute to the overall quality assurance process by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of quality documentation, performing checks, and taking proactive steps to prevent quality issues before they arise. You’ll also work closely with the Quality Control Team Lead, support internal audits, and drive continuous improvement in operational quality processes.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Experience in a Trade, or hands on practical engineering experience would be beneficial, but not essential
