Our client is a growing property and construction business delivering major projects across the region. With a strong focus on high standards, practical leadership and long-term development, the organisation is looking for an experienced Quality & Safety Officer to help ensure every project is delivered safely, responsibly and to specification.

This is an opportunity to join a team that values clear communication, personal accountability and people who are willing to speak up, solve problems and support others on site.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Operations – Construction, you will provide practical workplace health and safety advice, monitoring and reporting across multiple construction sites. You will work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, Foremen and subcontractors to promote safe work practices and maintain strong quality and compliance systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and review project safety documentation, including site safety plans, environmental plans, site inductions, risk assessments and SWMS.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and internal system audits.
  • Monitor employee and subcontractor compliance with approved SWMS and project requirements.
  • Identify hazards, report issues and initiate corrective actions with site leadership.
  • Inspect plant and equipment, including safety and noise controls.
  • Quarantine, tag or signpost unsafe areas, materials, plant and equipment when required.
  • Maintain current safety forms, registers and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the investigation and reporting of incidents, injuries and near misses.
  • Maintain first aid readiness, coordinate first aid kit replenishment and support site emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain the material safety data sheet library and lifting gear register.
  • Provide practical advice to Foremen and project teams on specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate employee training with registered training organisations.
  • Support health checks, immunisations and other workplace wellbeing initiatives.
  • Keep safety records accurate, current and available to the relevant teams.

About you

You will be a confident and approachable safety professional who can build trust with people at every level of a construction project. You will be comfortable working across active sites, identifying issues early and helping teams resolve them in a practical way.

You will bring:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or higher.
  • Current first aid qualification.
  • Relevant competency certificates.
  • At least three years' experience in a workplace health and safety environment.
  • Experience with document management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Sound understanding of current safety procedures, legislation and compliance expectations.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • The confidence to have direct, respectful conversations when standards are not being met.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and follow-through.

What’s on offer

A permanent, full-time opportunity with a growing construction business.

A workplace where safety is treated as a shared responsibility, not just the responsibility of one department.

Supportive leaders who encourage open communication and practical problem-solving.

Structured training, regular performance conversations and genuine career development opportunities.

Access to wellbeing initiatives, including an employee assistance program and annual flu vaccinations.

Team events designed to build connection and community.

A work environment that values respect, integrity, teamwork and accountability.
