Job summary

Laing O’Rourke in Australia seeks a highly experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our AUKUS team and lead quality excellence across the NPSCY project in Osborne, SA. You will ensure compliance with ISO 9001, manage quality risks and audits, and drive improvement with a high-performing team.

With 10+ years in construction/engineering and a lead auditor background, you will liaise with contractors and stakeholders to meet contract requirements and safety standards on a nationally

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction/engineering project experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards (AS5131) and related ISO standards.
  • Lead auditor qualification and ability to conduct audits.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams on complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, client specifications, industry standards and ISO 9001.
  • Manage quality risks, non-conformances, corrective actions and audits.
  • Lead a high-performing quality team with coaching and development.
  • Oversee inspection, testing, quality documentation, records management and handover.
  • Conduct internal and external audits of project teams, suppliers and contractors.
  • Liaise with Prime Contractors and delivery teams to resolve quality issues.

We are seeking a highly experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our AUKUS team and play a key role in delivering quality excellence across this nationally significant program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, client specifications, industry standards and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Manage quality risks, non-conformances, corrective actions, defects and audit programs to drive project performance and compliance.
  • Build and lead a high-performing quality team through effective performance management, coaching and development.
  • Oversee inspection and testing processes, quality documentation, records management and project handover requirements.
  • Conduct internal and external audits of project teams, suppliers and contractors to verify quality outcomes and contractual compliance.
  • Liaise with Prime Contractors, stakeholders and delivery teams to resolve quality issues and ensure timely achievement of project requirements.
About You
  • A minimum of 10 years’ construction/engineering project experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent trade qualifications with demonstrated industry experience.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards (e.g. AS5131), Industry Codes and Procedures.
  • Awareness of related standards e.g. ISO19443
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams in complex project environments.
  • Previous experience with developing Project Delivery Management Systems.
  • Lead auditor qualification.
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
