Job summary

Laing O’Rourke is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead site logistics for Australia’s largest defense infrastructure program. You will design strategies, coordinate material movements, and supervise workforce mobilisations to support complex construction activities.

You will collaborate with construction teams, suppliers and authorities, delivering safe, on-time outcomes while driving continuous improvement and compliance with project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of project logistics strategies to support safe, efficient delivery of construction activities.
  • Manage all site logistics operations, including material movements, workforce access, transport coordination, laydown areas and site establishment.
  • Coordinate logistics interfaces between construction teams, suppliers, subcontractors, transport providers, client representatives and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee supply chain planning and delivery activities to ensure materials, plant and equipment are available to meet programme requirements.
  • Lead workforce mobilisation planning and site access arrangements across multiple work fronts.
  • Develop and maintain logistics management and traffic management plans to meet project and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate collaborative planning sessions with project teams and partners to optimise logistics performance.
  • Monitor logistics performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Laing O’Rourke, with joint venture partner Amentum Australia, will play a central role in supporting Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) to develop and deliver the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard (NPSCY) project at Osborne, South Australia. We will provide program and construction management services of nuclear related civil infrastructure, site‑wide nuclear licensee development expertise, and nuclear safety leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of project logistics strategies to support the safe, efficient and timely delivery of construction activities.
  • Manage all site logistics operations, including material movements, workforce access, transport coordination, laydown areas, storage facilities and site establishment requirements.
  • Coordinate logistics interfaces between construction teams, suppliers, subcontractors, transport providers, client representatives and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee supply chain planning and delivery activities to ensure materials, plant and equipment are available to meet programme requirements.
  • Lead the planning and execution of workforce mobilisation, site access arrangements and operational logistics across multiple work fronts.
  • Develop and maintain logistics management plans, traffic management plans and supporting procedures to meet project and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate collaborative planning sessions with project teams and supply chain partners to optimise logistics performance and construction productivity.
  • Monitor logistics performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, safety and certainty of delivery.
About You
  • Significant experience managing logistics and supply chain operations on major infrastructure, transport, resources, defence or construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing logistics strategies that support complex, multidisciplinary construction programmes.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, site logistics, material management, workforce mobilisation and supply chain coordination.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and interfaces, including contractors, suppliers, transport operators, government authorities and client representatives.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and changing project demands.
  • Commitment to safety leadership, operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
