Job summary

McConnell Dowell's Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland is seeking a quality assurance professional to support construction and engineering teams, implementing inspection plans and non-conformance processes across a major renewable build.

You will coordinate audits, hold points, and ensure reporting across on-site and off-site quality controls, contributing to a compliant, safe, and efficient project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with endorsed procedures and Management Plans.
• Support to Construction and Engineering for the Project Completion activities.
• Identify non-compliances and instigate corrective actions as required.
• Establish Supplier/Subcontractor quality requirements and include in subcontract documents.
• Prepare and maintain the Project Audit Schedule in consultation with the Group Quality and Audit Managers.
• Carry out and report audits in accordance with the Project Audit Schedule.
• Establish and plan the controls for inspection and testing of construction works, materials and equipment onsite and offsite.
• Identify project hold and witness points and incorporate those into applicable ITPs.
• Assist in providing suitably qualified personnel to meet the inspection and test requirements nominated on the ITP.
• Monitor the use of ITPs, verification checklists and CEPs at regular intervals.
• Evaluate the inspection and test results.
• Ensure all inspection and test reports are submitted to the Principal’s Representative for review.
• Maintain the project non-conformance system.
• Ensure the site CMI Index is submitted for approval and the CMI is compiled progressively.

The Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project is a game-changing development for Australia’s clean energy future. Located in Far North Queensland, this world-first project is transforming a disused gold mine into a large-scale renewable energy storage facility.
Once complete, the project will deliver up to 250MW of rapid-response power to the National Electricity Market; enough to power over 100,000 homes. Backed by Genex Power and supported by ARENA, it represents a major step forward in sustainable infrastructure.
