Job summary

The Future Generation Joint Venture on Snowy 2.0 in NSW is seeking a disciplined Quality Inspector to ensure construction activities comply with drawings, specifications and procedures. You will attend inspections, witness testing, and surveil works to verify quality.

The role requires tertiary civil engineering qualifications and at least 3 years in construction, with proven ability to read drawings, report NCRs and coordinate with site teams.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry in a similar role.
• Experience on large-scale construction projects or other suitable projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Effective communication skills to report findings and collaborate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Undertake quality inspections on site and subcontractors’ worksites to ensure conformity with the relevant inspection and test plans (ITPs) and drawings.
• Collect work lot and quality records.
• Verify and record the implementation of corrective actions for identified non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Manage any occurring defects.
• Review and consult with the Quality Coordinator on matters of surveillance and inspection, including subcontracted works.
• Communicate and resolve any construction quality issues proactively with the relevant site supervisor.
• Fill and populate Quality Inspector diary.

Job description

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

The role of the Quality Inspector is to ensure and verify that construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and documented procedures. This role involves attending inspections, witnessing testing activities, and conducting surveillance of activities to ensure compliance with the project specification.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or related discipline

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the construction industry in a similar role is preferred
• Experience working on large-scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
• A keen eye for identifying defects and deviations
• Understanding of Quality control standards and testing methodologies
• Effective communication skills to report findings and collaborate with teams
• Familiar with the specific industry standard and practices
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Proficiency with Aconex, GLAASS and electronic document management system
• Sound knowledge of construction materials and related specifications
