Job summary

Loop Recruitment's client in Brisbane is seeking a Project Quality Engineer to support engineering projects across product and process design, sourcing and supplier quality. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, helping identify risks early, solve quality issues and ensure readiness for production.

The role suits someone who enjoys the technical side of quality and also interacting with people on shopfloor and with suppliers.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years' experience in a Quality Engineering role within automotive or similar manufacturing.
• Mechanical/Manufacturing engineering background, degree or equivalent.
• Experience with metals fabrication (laser cutting, welding) is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 and AIAG Core Tools.
• Experience with supplier quality audits and PPAP processes.
• Practical problem-solving mindset and collaborative communication.
• Able to work with people, take ownership, and deliver quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Project Quality Plans and quality deliverables across projects.
• Work closely with Engineering to support DFMEA, PFMEA and Design for Manufacturing activities.
• Provide quality input into product and process design.
• Work with suppliers on quality assurance, audits, PPAP and non-conformances.
• Get hands-on with inspection, testing and prototype verification.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone and FMEA.
• Translate product requirements and special characteristics into manufacturing documentation and controls.
• Support quality gate reviews and help ensure projects are ready for production.
• Drive continuous improvement and help reduce the Cost of Poor Quality.
• Conduct internal and supplier audits as required.

ROLE

As the Project Quality Engineer, you will support engineering projects across product and process design, sourcing and supplier quality. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 3–5+ years' experience in a Quality Engineering role, ideally within automotive or a similar manufacturing environment
• Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering background, either through a degree or equivalent experience
• Experience with metals fabrication including laser cutting and welding would be highly regarded
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
• Experience with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949
• Good knowledge of AIAG Core Tools including DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, SPC and MSA
• Experience working with suppliers and conducting quality audits
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to quality
• Someone who communicates well, works collaboratively and isn't afraid to ask questions or raise concerns
• Someone who enjoys working with people, takes ownership and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes
