Job summary

Qantas Airways is seeking a Quality Engineer for our new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. This role focuses on embedding quality practices across the software delivery lifecycle to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure digital experiences for customers.

You will work within agile squads on both manual and automated testing, strengthening test frameworks and collaborating with engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality digital solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Quality Engineering, Test Automation or Software Testing within Agile delivery environments.
• Design, create and maintain high quality test cases using Jira Zephyr and structured testing practices.
• Execute manual and automated testing across frontend and backend systems for end‑to‑end coverage and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute test plans and test cases across frontend and backend systems.
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks and test suites (Playwright/Cypress).
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners and stakeholders to define and implement test strategies.
• Conduct cross‑browser testing using LambdaTest and BrowserStack; validate APIs with REST Assured and Pact.
• Contribute to documentation such as test guides and data strategies to support quality outcomes.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Technology team. In this role, you will be instrumental in embedding quality engineering practices across the software delivery lifecycle, ensuring our applications perform at the highest standards of reliability, scalability and customer experience.

Working within agile squads, you will contribute to both manual and automated testing, strengthen our test frameworks, and collaborate closely with engineers, product owners and stakeholders to deliver innovative and high‑quality digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities and What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years' experience in a Quality Engineering, Test Automation, or Software Testing role, ideally within Agile delivery environments
• Design, create and maintain high quality test cases using tools such as Jira Zephyr, applying structured testing practices and attention to detail
• Execute manual and automated testing across frontend and backend systems, ensuring comprehensive end to end coverage and product reliability for customer facing applications
• Perform functional, regression and end to end (E2E) testing, leveraging strong knowledge of testing methodologies and best practices
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks and test suites using modern tools such as Playwright or Cypress, contributing to improved coverage, efficiency and continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines
• Build and maintain robust UI and browser based automated tests that validate real user journeys across customer facing web applications
• Perform cross browser testing using tools such as LambdaTest and BrowserStack
• Experience working with APIs and API testing tools such as REST Assured and Pact (contract testing)
• Collaborate with engineers, business analysts and stakeholders to plan and execute test strategies, including risk identification and mitigation
• Contribute to documentation such as test guides, knowledge articles and test data strategies to support quality outcomes
• Apply modern quality engineering techniques including BDD practices, coding standards and participation in automation code reviews
• Bring strong stakeholder engagement, agile delivery experience and a proactive, detail oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Datadog desirable
