Job summary

Downer in regional Victoria is seeking a Quality Assurance Officer to support delivery of the VRMC. This role combines site-based inspections with quality assurance activities to verify works meet contractual requirements and approved work practices.

Ideal candidates have live traffic environment experience and an ability to identify defects, promote first-time quality, and work with delivery teams and client stakeholders to improve performance.

• Identify non-conformances, raise corrective actions and track close out.
• Analyse trends in defects and rework to support improved delivery performance.
• Provide practical guidance to crews and supervisors to promote first time quality.

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Officer to support delivery of the Victorian Road Maintenance Contract (VRMC). This role is ideal for someone with experience working in live traffic environments or on-road maintenance and construction activities who is looking to build their career in quality and compliance. Working closely with delivery teams, supervisors and client stakeholders, you will help verify that works are delivered safely, effectively and in line with contractual requirements and approved work practices. The role has a strong field presence and combines site-based inspections with quality assurance activities that can be learned and developed on the job.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct audits, inspections and surveillance across road maintenance and capital works
• Verify compliance with VRMC contract requirements, DTP specifications and Quality Plans

What you'll bring

• Experience working in a live traffic environment is essential. This may include roles in Traffic Control, Road Maintenance, Civil Construction, Utilities, Traffic Management, or similar roadside operations.
• A strong understanding of how road works are delivered safely and efficiently within an active road corridor.
• The ability to assess work quality, identify defects, and communicate improvement opportunities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with field crews and supervisors.
• A willingness to learn quality systems, auditing processes, and contract compliance requirements.
• Previous QA or auditing experience is beneficial, but we are open to training someone with strong road corridor experience and the right attitude.
