Job summary

Fresh Produce Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Officer for Fruitico Packshed at Riverdale Farm, Meelon, WA. The role drives the QA program from field through dispatch, ensuring product quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in quality assurance within horticulture, packing or food production.
• Knowledge of HACCP, Freshcare, HARPS and fresh produce export requirements.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate multiple programs.
• Excellent communication with growers, operations teams and customers.

• Test, inspect and grade produce for quality, size, purity, defects and compliance with specifications.
• Conduct pre-dispatch inspections and ensure imported products meet biosecurity requirements.
• Advise growers and operations teams on quality issues, pest and disease management, grading, packing and export requirements.
• Oversee QC staff, validate inspection results and train team in quality standards.
• Develop, implement and review quality procedures, work instructions, checklists and product specifications.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and quality systems, including HACCP, Freshcare and HARPS.
• Ensure hygiene and compliance standards across storage, packing, cool rooms, transport vehicles and containers.
• Conduct internal audits and support customer, certification and government audits.
• Investigate customer complaints and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions.

About The Role

Based on-site at Fruitico Packshed located at Riverdale Farm in Meelon, Coolup WA, the Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing Fruitico' s quality assurance program from the field through to dispatch. The key responsibilities will include:

• Plan and oversee field inspections and sampling programs, assessing crop maturity, quality, pests and diseases.
• Test, inspect and grade produce for quality, size, purity, defects and compliance with customer, export and FPG specifications.
• Conduct pre-dispatch inspections and ensure imported products meet biosecurity requirements.
• Advise growers and operations teams on quality issues, pest and disease management, grading, packing and export requirements.
• Oversee QC staff, validate inspection results and train team members in quality standards and inspection methods.
• Develop, implement and review quality procedures, work instructions, checklists and product specifications.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and quality systems, including HACCP, Freshcare and HARPS.
• Ensure hygiene and compliance standards are maintained across storage, packing, cool rooms, transport vehicles and containers.
• Conduct internal audits and support customer, certification and government audits.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 p.a.

About You

We are looking for someone who has a passion for fresh produce and is seeking an opportunity to build their career in this exciting and fast-paced industry.

You will ideally have experience working within a fresh produce supply chain, warehouse, logistics, or similar environment, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and efficiency.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

• At least 3 years' experience in in similar role including quality assurance in horticulture, packing or food production.
• Working knowledge of HACCP, Freshcare, HARPS and fresh produce export requirements.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse workforce.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate multiple operational programs.
• Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Sound knowledge of produce quality, grading and pest and disease identification.
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgement when making quality decisions.
• Clear communication with growers, operations teams and customers.
• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel between sites.
