Job summary

Provectus Algae is seeking a Quality Assurance Officer to keep the quality management system current, complete and audit-ready. You will own day-to-day document and record control across the laboratory and our stockfeed manufacturing operation, and carry out internal audits and routine checks that show the system is being followed.

This is a detail role with real visibility. You will work alongside the Quality Manager as we carry our ISO/IEC 17025 application through NATA assessment and embed

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a quality assurance, document control or records role in regulated manufacturing, food, feed or lab.
• Meticulous with records and version control; comfortable with spreadsheets and shared drives.
• Clear written English for audit findings and investigation notes.
• Willing to work on production floor, lab and desk.
• Qualification: certificate or diploma in science, food technology, quality or related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain document register: issue, revision, distribution, withdrawal and archiving to keep current versions.
• Issue controlled batch records, logbooks and forms; check records for legibility and signatures.
• Maintain retention and retrieval so batch/test/delivery can be traced on request.
• Maintain training matrix and calibration, cleaning, pest control, SDS and supplier registers.
• Carry out internal audit programme across FeedSafe and ISO/IEC 17025; write findings factually.
• Perform routine verification checks on floor and lab: hygiene, line clearance, labels, weights.
• Raise nonconformance reports and track corrective actions to due dates.
• Collect retention samples and support traceability exercises and mock recalls.
• Prepare records/evidence packs for FeedSafe, NATA and customer audits.
• Log customer complaints and document investigation outcomes.
• Follow WHS procedures and report incidents and unsafe conditions immediately.

Provectus Algae uses Precision Photosynthesis® to accelerate nature in a proprietary biomanufacturing platform. Combining AI-driven strain selection with precision-controlled cultivation, we discover and produce high-value compounds from algae, one of the least explored and most promising sources of novel biology on Earth. Through Proteus Ag Pty Ltd we now manufacture and supply Surf’nTurf®, our methane-inhibiting feed supplement for livestock.

Position summary

The Quality Assurance Officer keeps our quality management system current, complete and audit-ready. You will own day-to-day document and record control across the laboratory and our stockfeed manufacturing operation, and carry out the internal audits and routine checks that show the system is being followed.

This is a detail role with real visibility. You will work alongside the Quality Manager as we carry our ISO/IEC 17025 application through NATA assessment and embed our newly certified FeedSafe® system, and you will spend time on the production floor and in the laboratory as well as at a desk.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities

• Maintain the document register: issue, revision, distribution, withdrawal and archiving, so only current versions are available at the point of use.
• Issue controlled batch records, logbooks and forms, and check completed records for legibility, completeness and correct signatures before filing.
• Maintain record retention and retrieval so that any batch, test result or delivery can be traced on request.
• Maintain the training register and matrix, and the calibration, cleaning, pest control, SDS and approved supplier registers.
• Carry out the scheduled internal audit programme across the FeedSafe® elements and the ISO/IEC 17025 management system, and write up findings factually.
• Perform routine verification checks on the floor and in the lab: pre-operational hygiene, line clearance, label and packaging checks, weight tolerances, and storage and stock rotation.
• Raise nonconformance reports, maintain the NCR log, and track corrective actions to their due date.
• Collect and file retention samples, and support traceability exercises and mock recalls.
• Prepare the records and evidence packs for FeedSafe®, NATA and customer audits.
• Log customer complaints, gather the supporting records and document investigation outcomes.
• Follow all WHS procedures and report incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions immediately.
  

Essential skills & experience

• 2 or more years in a quality assurance, document control or records role in a regulated manufacturing, food, feed or laboratory environment.
• Methodical and accurate with records and version control, and confident with spreadsheets and a document management or shared drive system.
• Clear written English. You can write a factual audit finding and a plain investigation note.
• Happy to work on the production floor and in the laboratory as well as at a desk.
• Certificate or diploma in science, food technology, quality or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Desirable / advantageous

• Internal auditor training (ISO 9001, HACCP or ISO/IEC 17025).
• Exposure to FeedSafe®, HACCP or GMP, or to preparing for third-party certification audits.
• Experience with a LIMS or electronic quality management system.
