Job summary

Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia Pty Ltd (SEDA) in Sydney seeks a Quality Assurance Manager to lead and continually enhance the Integrated Management System (IMS) in alignment with Safran policies and ISO standards. The role drives quality culture, manages risk, and supports customer satisfaction and product reliability.

You will coordinate internal and supplier audits, maintain document control, and act as the primary liaison for external audits and regulatory bodies within the defence

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management or related technical field.
• Experience designing, implementing, and managing QMS certified to ISO 9001; knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 45001.
• Defense/aerospace regulated manufacturing experience.
• Strong CI skills (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).
• Exposure to project management in system/product lifecycle (R&D through production).
• Lead Auditor certification and AQAP knowledge are highly regarded.

Job description

Headquartered in Sydney, SEDA brings local expertise in the integration of optronics and navigation systems for the air, land, and naval platforms of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces.

PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES:

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading, maintaining, and continually improving SEDA’s Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with Safran Group policies, defence and regulatory requirements, and ISO standards (ISO 9001 and ISO 45001). The role drives a culture of quality and safety, supports customer satisfaction and product reliability, manages risk, and acts as the main point of contact for external audits and regulatory bodies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a unified IMS across all end-to-end business processes, ensuring that our products consistently meet the highest standards of reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout their entire lifecycle.
• Ensure full alignment of the IMS with Safran Group policies and facilitate implementation of group-led quality initiatives.
• Drive a strong quality and safety culture across the organisation, embedding a proactive approach to compliance, risk management and customer satisfaction.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for defence compliance audits, customer quality assurance representatives and certification bodies.
• Manage the document control system, including the review, update, and approval of IMS documents, ensuring current and controlled documentation is maintained.
• Establish the annual internal audit program and ensure timely execution by trained internal auditors, covering the full scope of the IMS.
• Perform internal audits and participate in supplier audits as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quality Management or in a related technical field
• Extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing QMS certified to ISO 9001 standards, and a strong understanding of AS9100, including experience with ISO 45001.
• Proven experience within a defense, aerospace, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).
• Exposure to project management in system and product lifecycle (from R&D through production to support).
• Lead Auditor certification, Six Sigma Green Belt and AQAP knowledge are highly regarded.
