Job summary

Serco is seeking a Quality and Compliance Co-ordinator to support the Defence Marine Support Services contract at HMAS Kuttabul, Sydney. You’ll play a key role in keeping operations compliant, well governed and continuously improving.

You’ll work with Contract Manager, WHS, Operations and Engineering teams, leading quality and compliance activities, analysing information, coordinating audits and turning complex requirements into clear reports that drive strong HSEQ outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting HSEQ, quality, safety, environmental or compliance in maritime/defence or high-risk environments.
• Ability to interpret legislative, contractual and ISO requirements and communicate them clearly.
• Experience coordinating audits and assurance activities with strong reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage quality and compliance requirements across maritime, ISO, contractual and legislative frameworks.
• Develop and maintain quality, safety and environmental management plans and controlled documentation.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, assurance activities and compliance reviews.
• Monitor HSEQ performance data, KPIs, risks and corrective actions, and prepare clear reports.
• Support risk management, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Advise managers on compliance requirements and opportunities to strengthen quality and safety.

As our Quality and Compliance Co-ordinator supporting the Defence Marine Support Services (DMSS) contract, you’ll play a key role in keeping our operations compliant, well governed and continuously improving.

You’ll work closely with our Contract Manager, WHS, Operations and Engineering teams, leading quality and compliance activities to support strong HSEQ outcomes. Your ability to analyse information, coordinate audits and turn complex requirements into clear, concise reports will be key to your success. This is a permanent full-time position based at HMAS Kuttabul, Sydney.

As a Quality and Compliance Co-ordinator in the Defence Marine Support Services team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

• Managing quality and compliance requirements across maritime, ISO, contractual and legislative frameworks
• Developing and maintaining quality, safety and environmental management plans and controlled documentation
• Coordinating internal and external audits, assurance activities and compliance reviews
• Monitoring HSEQ performance data, KPIs, risks and corrective actions, and preparing clear reports
• Supporting risk management, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
• Advising managers and supervisors on compliance requirements and opportunities to strengthen quality and safety

You’ll be confident working with different teams, comfortable taking ownership of compliance activities and able to turn detailed information into clear, practical reports. You don’t need a maritime qualification, but experience in maritime, Defence, engineering or another high-risk operational environment will help you understand the work we do and make an immediate impact.

You could be a great fit if you have:

• Experience supporting HSEQ, quality, safety, environmental or compliance systems in a maritime, Defence, engineering, facilities management or other high-risk operational environment
• Strong quality and compliance experience, including supporting audits, assurance activities and ISO requirements
• Experience preparing management reports, KPI information, compliance documentation and audit records
• The ability to interpret legislative, contractual and ISO requirements and communicate them clearly
• Experience with management systems, document control, risk assessments, corrective actions and continuous improvement
• A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent, with an Internal Auditor qualification or the ability to obtain one
• A current Class C driver licence is required
• Experience in high-risk operation industries (e.g. Defence, maritime and mining), highly desirable.
