Job summary

Midas Cairns is seeking a qualified Automotive Technician to join our established Cairns workshop. You will perform general servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostics across passenger and light commercial vehicles.

We offer an excellent hourly rate of $40–$50, permanent full-time employment with a five-day week, a busy workshop with a loyal customer base and a friendly, supportive team. Full Australian working rights are required.

Qualifications

• Recognised Australian automotive trade qualification (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Experience with general automotive servicing and repairs.
• Sound mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Current driver’s licence and Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general automotive servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostics.
• Routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Brake, suspension, steering and drivetrain repairs.
• Identify and diagnose mechanical faults.
• Work cooperatively with the team to maintain an efficient workshop.
• Ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.

About the role

You'll be carrying out a range of general automotive servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostic work, including:

Key responsibilities

Routine servicing and preventative maintenance

Brake, suspension, steering and drivetrain repairs

Identifying and diagnosing mechanical faults

General mechanical repairs across a variety of vehicle makes and models

Working cooperatively with the team to maintain an efficient workshop

Ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and to a high standard

About you

A recognised Australian automotive trade qualification (Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent)

Practical experience in general automotive servicing and repairs

Sound mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability

The ability to work independently and as part of a team

A current driver's licence

A positive attitude, good work ethic and willingness to continue learning

Full Australian working rights without requiring employer visa sponsorship
